Assemblin has secured a multi-technical project with focus on recycling
Assemblin has signed an agreement with NCC Sverige AB in connection with the renovation of the S-building at the Mälardalen University in Västerås. The assignment includes installations for electricity, heating, sanitation, ventilation, sprinklers and automation with a total order value of approximately SEK 50 million. The project, with Hemsö as the developer, is being carried out with a strong focus on sustainability and recycling.
A large portion of the materials and products used in the building will be recycled, including windows, doors, dry walls, carpets, as well as parts of the installation components. The existing light fixtures will be upgraded to more energy-efficient LED models in collaboration with Fagerhult. When new materials are required, those with the lowest possible environmental impact are chosen. The goal is to, as one of the first projects in Sweden, be certified as “Miljöbyggnad Ombyggnad 4.0 Gold”.

The building covers approximately 6,000 square meters on three floors including a basement. The renovation will provide modern administrative premises for the Mälardalen University. The project combines innovative and sustainable solutions with current requirements for indoor climate and energy efficiency. The project started in the spring of 2025 and is expected to be completed in September 2026.
